My Blogs have started to show more evidence of the assesment task forming. Im yet to begin the tour itself but I have planned it out and Iam ready to begin.

Gladiators
The Emperor Augustus once said:
'I gave a gladiatorial show three times in my own name, and five times in my sons or grandsons; at these shows about 10,000 fought.'
Gladiators were generally criminals; prisnoers of war, slaves. Gladiators who were condemned of murder would go to battle without weapons. When criminals had committed other crimes they would be trained in special gladitorial schools, called ludi. Criminals would earn their freedom after 3-5 years of combat, although few survived 3-5 years.
Professional Gladiators were men who volunteered to fight in Roman games. Gladiators were paid each time they would fight.
Gladiators consisted of:
- Samnite- This included a large oblong sheild, a metal or boiled leather grieve on the left leg, a visored helmet and a sword.
- Thracian- This included an ocrea on both legs, a small sheild, a wide brim helmet and a curved sword.
- Securor- This included leather bands at the elbow and wrists, a helmet, sword or dagger whilst being naked.
- Retiarius- This included wearing only a loin cloth, metal shoulder piece on the left arm and carrying a net(fisherman).
- laquearii- This gladiator was very simular to the Retiarius but instead of a net a lasso.
